It's finally here! The Muskoka Watershed Report Card is produced by the Muskoka Watershed Council every four years and is a science-based evaluation of the health of the water, land, and wetlands in Muskoka and the municipalities that share Muskoka's watershed.
There are four components to the 2010 Muskoka Watershed Report Card:
◊ a four-page full-colour report card summary distributed to the public through local media and available online.
◊ a report card website (www.muskokaheritage.org/watershed/reportcard/home.htm);
◊ a report card Background Report that details the indicators and how grades were determined; and
◊ Subwatershed Reports for each of the 20 subwatersheds analyzed in the report card.
Check out the website today to find out how your subwatershed measures up!
MNR Lake Fact Sheets
Information on lakes in the Muskoka and Parry Sound districts is now easier to access, thanks to a partnership between The District Municipality of Muskoka, Ministry of Natural Resources and the Parry Sound-Muskoka Stewardship Network.
MNR lake fact sheets are now available on the Muskoka Water Web. The fact sheets include basic information such as lake location, size and depth, as well as detailed information on fish species and fisheries management.
Currently, fact sheets are available for about 450 lakes, with about 700 to be available when the project is complete. Funding was provided through the Parry Sound-Muskoka Stewardship Network.
