Ferndale Water Treatment Plant in Port Carling


The water treatment plant went online delivering water to the people of Port Carling October 3rd 2002. The treatment process for this facility consists of chemically assisted coagulation-flocculation, sedimentation and filtration using multi-media filters with a combination of gravel, sand and anthracite coal. Disinfection in a post-treatment chlorine contact chamber is followed by final pH adjustment before the treated water is pumped to customers. The waterworks currently serves a population of approximately 800 persons. The plant is rated at 1590 cubic meters per day at the stage 1 design, and 2923 cubic meters per day at stage 2. The raw water source is Lake Rosseau and our intake is located 1.8 meters above the lakebed at a depth of 24.3 meters and about 800 meters from shore.
