The Water Treatment Plant serving the town
of Huntsville was constructed in 1988. The
treatment process consists of chemically assisted
coagulation-flocculation, sedimentation, filtration,
disinfection by chlorination, fluoridation and pH adjustment.
The capacity of the plant is 9,000 cubic meters per
day with provisions for expansion to the ultimate capacity
of 22,500 cubic meters per day. The water source is Fairy
Lake, a fairly large and clear body of water. The intake
is located in 15 meters of water, about 280 meters from shore.
